Zachary Rakes

Zachary (Zach) Robert Rakes, 30, of Ash Grove, Missouri passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023 at his home.

Born in Grand Junction, CO on April 30, 1993, he was the son of Mark and Kathy Rakes and the late Kimberly Wantz and Ronald Burns.

Zach was a 2011 graduate of Seneca High School in Seneca, Missouri. Following graduation, Zach joined the Marine Reserves where he fulfilled 10 years of service alongside his brothers in arms. His legacy of commitment and sacrifice will forever be remembered in the hearts of those he protected and served.

Zach loved his family and friends. There was never a stranger in Zach's presence where he would embrace each moment with contagious happiness that touched the hearts of all those around him.

Zach is survived by his parents Mark and Kathy Rakes of Seneca, MO and Ron Burns of Grand Junction, CO; one son, Elias Daniel Legend Olsen; Sisters Ali (D'Ondra) Burns of Houston, Texas and Cassie (Ryan) Dimmitt of Columbia, MO. Brothers Ben (Miranda) Burns of Des Moines, IA and Kaleb Rakes of Seneca, MO. Grandparents Tink and LaVetta Rakes of Seneca, MO and Darlene Tafoya of Grand Junction, CO. As well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Zach is preceded in death by his mother, Kimberly Wantz.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Thursday, December 7th at 10am with Calob Jones officiating. Visitation will follow the services. A private family burial of the cremains will be in the Seneca Cemetery.
