Vera Maxine Sundquist
Vera Maxine Thomas (Rodrock) Sundquist passed from this life on April 23, 2012, 14 days before her 89th birthday. Maxine was born May 8, 1923 in Centerville, KS., the first of four children born to Clifford and Goldia Marie (Stephens) Thomas. She was raised on the family farm where she learned her strong work ethic and acquired her love for animals. She went to school in Mildred, KS. She was a member of Central Christian Center in Joplin. Maxine worked hard as a waitress most of her life and was an avid reader and enjoyed her ducks, geese, chickens, dogs and especially cats. Maxine had many cats during her life. Anyone who knew her knew of her very special love for kitty cats and she was known to many as the “Cat Lady”. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Alfred, and one grandson, Sean Rodrock. She is survived by one brother, Russell Thomas of Colony, KS., one sister Wanda Willcutt of Tulare, CA., one step-brother Max Fuston, Kansas City and one half sister Ruth Elaine Dillow, Chanute, KS. Surviving are her husband, Ronald Sundquist of Neosho, MO., and her four children: Daughters Beverly and husband Max King, Seneca, MO and Barbara and husband Gene Casebolt, Grove, OK; Sons, Darol and wife Karen Rodrock, Bucyrus, KS and Donnie and wife Jane Rodrock, Seneca, MO. one step daughter Rhonda Sundquist, Raleigh, NC, one step son R.L. Sundquist, Neosho, MO; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. Funeral services under the personal direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in the Burkhart Cemetery with grandsons, Jimmy Dale King, Mark King, Darren King, Brian Rorock, Shawn Rodrock and Jacob King serving as pallbearers. Viewing will be held Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00AM to 5:00 PM and from 9:00 AM until service time at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of Beverly and Max King 102 Cemetery Rd, Seneca, MO.
