Obituary for Robert Rogers

Robert A. Rogers, 86, Seneca, MO, passed into eternal rest at 12:25 PM, Thursday, January 27, 2011 at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin after a long illness with a bone marrow disorder.    Robert Arthur Rogers was born March 5, 1924 in Anderson, MO, the son of Arthur R. and Vinita S. (Stillions) Rogers.  Robert was an Air Force Veteran serving his country during WWII, Korea and Viet Nam. During his tour in WWII Bob was a gunner on a B-17 for 28 missions. He remained in the Air Force 26 years retiring in 1969. Bob was a Christian man.   Robert A. Rogers married Marie A. Houtcooper, January 15, 1946 in Kansas City, KS and she preceded him in death May 2, 1979. Robert then married Mary Lou Hamilton, August 5, 1985 in Columbus, KS and she preceded him in death March 26, 2006. He was also preceded in death by one son Wayne Rogers in 1998; two brothers, Roy R. Rogers and Todd Rogers; two sisters Evah M. Wylie and Helen L. Laughlin and one granddaughter Steffany Rogers.    Survivors include two sons Doug Rogers and wife Mary, Goodman and Steve Rogers, Joplin; one daughter Shirley Wescott and husband David, Seneca; two brothers, Ed Rogers, Jim Rogers both of Seneca; one sister, Maxine Scott, Seneca; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.   Funeral services under the personal direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Campbell-Biddlecome Chapel with Scott Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery with Chris Rogers, Cory Carter, Shad Lankford, Gage Lankford, Drew Lankford and Billy Garrigan serving as pallbearers.   The family will receive friends from  6 to 7 PM , Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca.   Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in Care of the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, PO Box 380, Seneca, MO 64865.   The family will be at Bob’s 1211 Oneida, Seneca.
