Rev. Raymond LeRoy Chew Sr., 66, Joplin, MO, passed into eternal rest Sunday, May 22, 2011 from injuries sustained in the tornado that devastated Joplin, MO. Rev. Raymond LeRoy Chew SR. was born July 30, 1944 in Joplin, MO the son of Rev. Dudley R. and Rev. Lenora D. (Riley) Chew. Raymond was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving his country from 1961 to 1965. Raymond was a heavy equipment operator he had worked for Webb City Special Road District. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Carterville. Raymond married Helen (Cauthren) Chew August 25, 1962 in Reno, Nevada and she survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Raymond Chew II and wife Carla, Neosho, MO and Kevin Chew and wife Crystal, Seneca, MO; one daughter Carol Gibby, Carterville, MO; His mother Rev. Lenora D. Chew, Galena, KS; 5 brothers, Dudley Ray Chew Jr., Sacramento, CA, Pastor Frank R. Chew, Galena, KS, Terry U. Chew, state of Al, Jeff Chew, Joplin, MO, and John Chew, Shelby, MT; 5 sisters, Barbara Mullin, Joplin, MO, Susan Edward, Sacramento, CA, M. Jean Evans, Carterville, MO, Kendra Seymore, Shelby, MT and Samantha Hawkins, Carl Junction, MO; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Raymond was preceded in death by his father Rev. Dudley Ray Chew Sr.; 2 brothers, Sammy L. Chew and Danny M. Chew and one sister, Donna Kay Bedsual. Funeral Services under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Cornerstone Church in Carterville, MO with Rev. Morris Cleveland officiating. Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery with Kevin Chew, Brandon Chew, Preston Chew, Lucas Chew, Garrett Chew and Rev. Frank Chew serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Chew II, Charley Thurman, Jim Evans, Dudley (Jigs) Chew, Jerry Chew and Nate Chew. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM, Friday, May 27, 2011 at the funeral home.
