Joan Heard

Joan L. Heard, 79, Seneca, MO passed away October 20, 2024 at her home in Seneca surrounded by her family.

Joan Linda Allen was born December 8, 1944 in Glendale, CA the daughter of John and Hazel (Dixon) Allen. She formerly worked as Optical Technician at Peggis Optical on the Mather Air Force Base and managed Sears Optical. Joan moved to Seneca in 1994 from Roseville, CA and begin working at Famous Bar in Joplin until they closed. She then started working for Macy's until retiring. Joan loved reading romance, drama, crime and mystery novels. She also loved to read history. In here younger years she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, gardening and taking care of flowers.

Joan Linda Allen married Alva Heard June 11, 1988 and he preceded her in death May 28, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents John and Hazel Allen and two brothers, Jack Allen and Jerry Allen.

Survivors include two daughters; Denise Whitteaker & husband Matthew, Miami, OK and Karen Hagedom & husband Robert, Carlmicheal, CA; 3 grandchildren, Courtney Duncan, Miami, OK, Samantha Whitteaker, Joplin, MO and John Whitteaker & wife Samantha, Miami, OK; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Judy Vess & husband Clifford,Van Nuys, CA and Jim Allen & wife Krista, state of Indiana; and a host of niece, nephews and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Friday, October 25, 2024 at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca with Jarrod Kendall officiating. Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery.
