Jerry (Gid) Hilburn

Jerry Don "Gid" Hilburn, Age 89, of Seneca, MO was born to Leonard Lee Hilburn and Besse Lee (James) Hilburn on March 27, 1934, in Picher, OK and went to be with his Lord on November 28, 2023. Gid passed following a brief battle with cancer. Gid lived in the Seneca area all his life, working at BF Goodrich for 29 years and then continued another 10 years at Safeway before retirement. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved fishing, gardening, going to auctions, and making pies. He was the true meaning of a servant, always looking for some way to help others. He was a member of the Seneca Church of Christ for many years and loved working in the sound booth and helping mow the church lawn. He loved everything about Seneca football. He never missed a game and even enjoyed watching practice.

Gid married Shirley Ann Lankford on February 27, 1954 at the Seneca Church of Christ. They were married for 63 years. Preceding him in death was his wife Shirley Ann Hilburn, son Jerry Robert Hilburn, his parents Leonard and Besse Hilburn, and siblings Verna (Hilburn) Weaver, Letha (Hilburn) Tucker, Jimmy Hilburn, and Paul Hilburn. His son Darrel Hilburn and wife, Dianna of Seneca, MO survive with five grandchildren, Stephanie (Hilburn) Stewart and husband Matt of Seneca, MO; Cody Hilburn and wife Alicia of Seneca, MO; Brandon Hilburn and wife Elizabeth of Webb City, MO; Travis Hilburn and wife Autumn of Webb City, MO; and Callie Hilburn of Miami, OK. He also has eleven loving great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 3:00 at the Seneca Church of Christ with Jake King officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Seneca Football Program through the Jerry "Gid" Hilburn Memorial Fund at Peoples Bank of Seneca. The body has been taken for cremation under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca.
