Emily Lou (Emma Lou) DeMoss, 91, Seneca, MO passed into eternal rest August 24,2024 at the Seneca House Nursing Home after a long illness.
Emily Lou Harp was born March 16, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the daughter of James and Mamie (Kirby) Harp. She was one of twelve children and took on a great responsibility for taking care of her siblings. Emma Lou was know in the area as a great cook. She owned and operated the former Cherokee Cafe' and the former Emma Lou's Country Kitchen. She will be remembered by many for her hot rolls, chicken fried steak and many other signature dishes. Emma Lou was the happiest when she was cooking for her friends and family. She was a member of the Seneca First Baptist Church where she graciously served cooking meals for funerals and events at the church.
Emily Lou Harp married William (Bill) DeMoss August 4, 1951 in Arkansas and he preceded her in death 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents James and Mamie, One infant daughter, Kimberly Kay DeMoss, siblings, L.B. Harp, Jerry Harp, Frances Eagon, Clarence Bibb and David Bibb.
Survivors include: one son Michael DeMoss and wife Regina; one daughter, Geni Rinehart and husband Leon all of Seneca; siblings, Carolyn Whisenhunt, Racine, MO, Leona Campbell, Miami, OK, Brenda Jones Oklahoma City, OK, Ruth Lyons, Conroe, TX, Buddy Bibb and Bobby Bibb both of Oklahoma City, OK; 6 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Seneca First Baptist Church with Truman Brady officiating.
Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery with grandsons and family serving as pallbearers.
