Dr. Moriah Dolores Hagans, 79, transitioned to Heaven to be with our Lord, December 09, 2021 at Freeman Hospital. She was born November 16, 1942, in New York City, N.Y. the daughter of the late Lucius Thompkins and Moriah (Vines) Thompkins aka Marie.
Moriah graduated from Seward Park High School, NYC in 1960. Following graduation, she trained to be a book keeper and office manager. Using those skills, she was employed by the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) for many years. Moriah went on to be married to Keith Smith and from that marriage she had her oldest daughter, C'Vonne Smith. In 1971, Moriah now single relocated with her daughter and dog, Mister to Long Island, N.Y. where she met and remarried to Kenneth Hagans, Sr. In this union, Moriah gained two loving Step-daughters Lashawn and Javone Hagans.
Ken and Moriah just celebrated 46 years of marriage October 3rd 2021. From this marriage, Kenneth Hagans, Jr was born November 11, 1981. With their immense love for children, together they chose to love and adopt 4 additional children Caprice, Chevette, Dashawn and Danielle. Over the years, their large family continued to open their home to more children serving as an Emergency Foster Care temporary home for distressed parents in crisis. Their home was always filled with their children, the neighbor’s children and multiple pets, which she loved and cherished so much. Moriah's passion was kitchen prayer meetings teaching the gospel to so many local teens who are now serving as pastors, bishops and leaders in the ministry throughout the country. So, to many she is affectionately known as “Ma Dee”.
During the time as her family grew, Moriah would go on to complete her education at Marywood College earning her Doctoral Degree in Theology and also earned her Broker’s License. She worked a few years as a Restaurant Manager and later at the Fairchild Airport as an Office Manager all while running her own Real Estate business as a Licensed Broker (The Lamb's Estate Realty). Moriah served her community many years on the Board of Directors for the ACE Community Center always fighting to improve the environment and life journey of local youth and their families. Moriah also diligently served as a Deacon using her many talents at local churches on Long Island with her last N.Y. assignment being at Bread of Life Ministries with Apostle/Pastor Brown. Moriah enjoyed offering her services to property manage, decorate for events with her oldest daughter, and home/property shop. She enjoyed drawing, painting, restoring and bedazzling anything and everything purple. She adored traditional holidays spending time baking and cooking with family. The family was known for their family backyard pool/BBQ for times of reunion and ministry.
In 2002, Ken and Moriah along with Kenneth Jr. journeyed cross country to Oklahoma to follow her ministry vision. Moriah served many local churches to finally be ordained as Pastor of her ministry, The Lamb's Chosen Messianic Ministries where she continued to serve people up until her last days.
In addition to her parents, Moriah was predeceased by a brother, Frederic Thompkins. Surviving in addition to her husband, Kenneth Hagans Sr., are her daughter C’Vonne Smith and her husband Michael Hunt; of Smith her Grandchildren – Bryce Penn and his two children Aliyah and Bryce Jr., Tiara Abbott, Brendan Abbott and Caldwyn Abbott, Her son Kenneth Hagans, Jr. and his Wife Jessica Hagans, and children Mariah and Nylah, her additional children Caprice, Chevette, Danielle and Dashawn, her Stepdaughters LaShawn and Javon Hagans, with a host of Step-Grandchildren, and Great-grandchildren, her siblings Marsha Thompkins, Melvenus Thompkins Meagher, Valerie Thompkins, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A service of remembrance and repast will be starting 11 a.m., Friday December 17, 2021, Lighthouse Ministries, 3533 Kentucky Rd., Seneca, MO 64865.
