Clint Mitchell
Clint Mitchell passed away March 2, 2011, at 5:50 p.m. in his San Francisco, California, home surrounded by family and friends. Clint was born March 19, 1960, in Joplin, MO. He moved to San Francisco in 1998 where he married Elizabeth Zitrin on July 25, 1998. She along with his stepson Jacob Adler survive him. Clint graduated from Seneca High School in 1978. He lived in Germany for one year as a foreign exchange student. He worked for 2 years in Glacier National Park before returning to Seneca. He served as a Seneca Volunteer Fireman and managed Trails End Antiques before joining the Neosho Fire Department where he served as Shop Steward and Representative to the professional Firefighters’ Union, the IAFF. Governor Mel Carnahan appointed Clint to the Missouri Fire Education Commission in 1996. Clint was a member of the First Baptist Church Seneca. He loved being a part of the team to present the Seneca Annual 4th of July Fireworks. In San Francisco, Clint was President of the Liberty Hill Neighborhood Association in the Liberty Hill Historic District, where he restored the 1880 Victorian home where he, Elizabeth and Jacob lived. He served on the San Francisco Civil Grand Jury, and was Treasurer of the San Francisco Chapter of the ACLU. He is also survived by his parents, Don and Shirley Mitchell and two sisters Donna and Clinton Whitehead and Susan Ball all of Seneca;; one brother-in-law, Richard and Victoria Zitrin, San Francisco nieces and nephews Angela and Rob Nesvold, Stephanie Hoover, Jared and Jeanene Whitehead all of Seneca, Stacey and Mike Curtis of Claremore, OK, and Jesse, Gabriel and Maya Zitrin, all of San Francisco; great nieces and nephews Kortney, Emily, Allyson, Lane, Sydney, Sarah, Blaine, Grant, Cole and Tanner, along with a host of friends. Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm March 5th at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Sebastopol, CA. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday March 10th from 6:30 – 6:45 with a family visitation following in his hometown of Seneca, MO at the Campbell Biddlecome Funeral Home.
