Obituary for Carl B. Roark

Carl B. Roark, 87, Seneca, MO, passed into eternal rest at 8:45 AM, Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Seneca House Nursing Home after a long illness.    Carl B. Roark was born October 10, 1925 in Newton County, MO,  the son of Tuck and Carrie (Thomas) Roark.  Carl was a lifelong resident of Seneca and a big Seneca Indian Football fan. He was the first person to film football games for Coach Burl Fowler.  He was a member of Swars Prairie Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School Superintendent, he taught Sunday School and a member of the church choir where he sang bass in the church quartet.   He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and enjoyed woodworking.   He loved his children, grand-children and great-grandchildren.   Carl retired from Sperry-Vickers in 1983 after working there 30 years.  Carl started driving a bus for Gale Webb Transportation 1984 for the Seneca R7 School District and retired 2011. Carl was a 32nd degree mason of the Blue Lodge in Neosho.  He served on the Seneca Volunteer Fire Department and served several terms on the Seneca City Council.     Carl was preceded in death by his parents Tuck and Carrie Roark; one brother, Paul Roark and one sister, Emma Ellis.   Carl B. Roark married Minnie M. Nutting, November 12, 1944 at the Sycamore Chapel United Methodist Church and she survives.   Additional survivors include one son, Don Roark and wife Glenda, Seneca; Three daughters, Janie Steele and husband Lonnie, Linda Holt and husband Tom and Joan Parmley and husband Bill all of Seneca; 5 grandchildren and one step grand-daughter; 9 great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson.   Funeral arrangements under the personal direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Swars Prairie Baptist Church with Greg Snow officiating.  Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery with Don Roark, Janie Steele, Michael Steele, Todd Holt, Sam Roark and Jacob Steele serving as pallbearers.  Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren will be Honorary Pallbearers.     The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM, Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca.    In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Seneca Food Pantry in care of the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, PO Box 380, Seneca, MO 64865.
