Obituary for Calvin C. Ackerson

Calvin C. Ackerson, 91, Seneca, MO, passed into eternal rest at 9:30am, November 20, 2016 at Webb City Health & Rehab after a short illness.   Calvin Clay Ackerson was born August 12, 1925 in Seneca, MO the son of Charles J. and Goldie Ackerson.  Calvin was a Navy Veteran serving his country during WW II.  He also served for 12 years on the Seneca City Council. During that time, he served several years as Mayor Pro-tem. Calvin served as a Pastor 63 years.  He was instrumental in building churches all over the world.  He was the Pastor at Evangel Temple, Greeley, Co from 1971-1984; Peoria Assembly of God from 1984-2014 and also was the Pastor of Seneca Assembly of God, Eastside Assembly of God and the Peoria District. Calvin was also known for his love of painting.  Calvin painted several murals on Seneca Businesses portraying early scenes of Seneca.     Calvin C. Ackerson married Freida Mae McElhany July 18, 1947 in the State of Washington and she preceded him in death September 9, 2006.   Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Gates, Seneca; three sons, David W. Ackerson and wife Dolly; Donald N. Ackerson and wife, Connie and Daniel R. Ackerson and wife Denise all of Seneca; 11 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.   Calvin was preceded in death by one brother, Clifford Ackerson; one sister, Genevieve Rogers and one son-in-law Roger Gates.   The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 pm, Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Seneca Assembly of God.   Funeral services under the personal direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca will be held at 10:00 am, November 23, 2016 at the Seneca Assembly of God with Pastor Denny Sikes officiating.  Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery with Grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be grandson-in-law.   In Lieu of flowers memorial contribution can be made to the Seneca Assembly of God building fund in care of the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, PO Box 380, Seneca, MO 64865.
