Betty Jean Vickers passed away Monday July 4, 2022, at her home in Pineville, MO. She was surrounded by family members ( She was blessed to reside between two sons, with her other children within 10-50 mile vicinity).
Betty was born May 11, 1934 in Weir, KS. She was the 2nd of 5 children born to parents Ralph and Lula Jaynes. Betty met and married Robert L Vickers, September 1949.Their marriage brought them 8 children - 6 boys and 2 girls. They raised the children in Neosho, Wichita (KS), Newtonia/Granby area and finally settling in Seneca where the kids completed their high school years at SHS.
Betty and Bob gained experience raising youngsters, as some of Bob's and Betty's brothers resided with them in their early years of marriage.
After the eight children were in school, Betty became employed as a cafeteria cook for the Seneca School system. She already knew how to COOK and STRETCH the food. It was a joy to be 'in the crowd' that gathered around her table for meals!
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Bob; her parents; two brothers Sammy and Clifford; and her sister Peggy. Her heart was also burdened by the loss of two sons, Randall and Tracey.
Survivors include her children: Penny (Vic) Nance; Johnny (Kathy) Vickers; Jerry (Irene) Vickers; Dennis (Kendra) Vickers; Cheryl (life-partner Thea) Vickers; and Leland (Geniveve) Vickers. Her legacy includes 23 Grandchildren (her first was a 5-generation event); 44 Great Grandchildren; and 6 Great Great Grandchildren! Her brother Buster (Linda) Jaynes and sister-in-laws Arlene and Shirley also survive. Many, many other loved ones are part of Betty's big smile and comfortable home family - multiple nieces, nephews, and those who knew her or her children - were welcomed as friends.
Can you imagine Betty / Mom / Grandma - now sitting at a table, enjoying a rowdy game of Pitch, with Bob, Randy, Tracey, Ralph, Lula, Peggy, Sammy, and Cliff? NOT till they get back from FISHING!
The family will conduct a service Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10:00am. Location is the Outdoor Chapel at the Seneca Cemetery ( Oklahoma side ). No family visitation is planned prior to the service, but Betty will be available for viewing at the Campbell Biddlecome FH chapel beginning 7-6-22.
